Madeline Photgraphic Wedding & Portrait Photography

I created this simple index page to house my links so that a large amount of my work is easily accessed. The work isn't put into any particular order. I have short descriptions for each link. So if you're here to see if I'm consistent and my portfolios representitive of what I can do... have at it!

Be sure to check out my blog too!

Commercial Portfolio & Magazine Assignments
Senior Session Male - A young man with thoughts of graduating and moving on to college.
Senior Session Female - a young woman with thoughts of graduating and moving on to college.
Private Event I - I shot this by myself with 2 radio triggered off camera flashes. The location is a 2-story 20' x 30' family room of an upscale home.
Private Event II - (38 images) Shot by myself with several strategically placed radio triggered flashes. I was still experimenting with mixing in on camera flash for fill. The venue is the cavernous basement of a "The Vine" church.
Second Shooter Wedding - For the most part I was hired to help set up & break down gear as well as hold light off camera. (More skilled labor than one would first think.) For this particular wedding I literally only spent about 30 to 45 minutes taking pictures of people.
Sister & Brother Portrait Session My two daughters are the same age spread as this brother sister duo. The session was just about an hour long and these are the "keepers" from that day.
Location Portraits I'm a member of Perimter Church in John's Creek (Duluth) Georgia. We participate in a city wide ministry called "Compassion In Action". Volunteers step up all year round to provides funds and manpower to various ministries. In 2010 I decided to donate my time as a photographer and provide free portraits in a community of folks who may not otherwise be able to afford someone like myself.
Second Shoot June 10,2010 - Outdoor wedding. I was assigned a very small area during the ceremony as there were six other photographers there. For a while I had some flashes strategically placed and triggered them with radio signals.
Wedding as Second Shooter Peachtree Christian - I was one of six photographers and had no ceremony access for this gig. I did get the groomsmen for a little while so you can see how I handle that. I was also at the reception. Most images are straight from the camera with minor adjustments in Lightroom.
My Main Man Timmy - Timmy is my little buddy. This isn't stellar work but it moves me. He has Trisomy 21 aka "Down Syndrome". It's like God created this special race of people that transcends racial boundaries. The picture I like most is the one with his mother's hand on his forehead. You definitely get your thousand words with that one. Well I do I should say.
Anna On Location - This is my niece and she was kind enough to put up with me for a couple of hours. It's been a couple of years so I've gotten much better but this shows what can be accomplished away from the studio at someone's home. I didn't use any studio strobes. Just small off camera Speedlights.
Cross Fit Garage Games - I was struggling with getting over pnuemonia so I spent most of the day inside. I was playing with my speedlights. Notice most of the light is directional even though I'm working by myself. I remember this being the day I created a technique I call, "The 10 Second Portraiture" which I use at weddings all the time now.
Location "Ninja Speedlights" - None of these shots are Photoshoped. These are right from my catalog. I can't remember the occassion or why I was at Zoe's school this day. I remember that I was practicing what I call "Ninja Lighting". I have a simple system I've worked out thanks to studying with Bruce Dorn. Using non destructive 3M tape I mount my Speedlights and trigger them with radio remotes. I mount the Speedlights in strategic places to achieve directional lighting. That's why you don't see glare on the teacher's glasses. This was a typical windowless class room with overhead flourescent lighting. This was one of my first attempts at this. My triggers were on/off so I had to adjust exposure by other means. I know have pricier units that let me adjust exposure.
Silly Milly html or flash - I love Milly (one of 4 cats we staff for) as she's a constant source of amusement. I happened to have a light rig assembled and a camera handy. Otherwise I wouldn't bother posting it here. This is another example of what you can do with simple diffuse off camera lighting. I'm using a single Speedlight and a "Tri-Grip" reflector as my modifier. Otherwise that plastic wrapping would glare to the point of making the pictures unusable. No Photoshop all straight from Lightroom.
